Fast Food Date Night #2

We broke our date night rules again.

But that’s okay. It was that, or not go on a date at all. So, which would you pick?

We picked to go on a date.

So, it was a fast food date. But not really.

It wasn’t McDonald’s or Jack in the Box, it was…

Taco Time. (We went to their Bothell location.)

I ordered the fit hit bowl and Hubby got the veggie burrito and just for fun, we grabbed a side of sweet potato mexi-fries (tots). We also threw in an order of chips and salsa which was insanely cheap at less than 2 bucks.

I didn’t like my fit hit bowl. It tasted like over-salted canned food, which is typical for fast food restaurants. But- I was still impressed with Taco Time for a lot of reasons.

#1  Hubby said his burrito was delicious.

#2 The woman who helped us at the counter was friendly and helpful and gave us all the info. we needed to order healthier versions of their classics.

#3 Taco Time is not ashamed to offer heath and nutrition information to their customers. They’ve got a stack of nutrition facts on all their menu items right next to the registers. Very cool…and smart.

#4 Tots were good, though too greasy for my taste. Still, they’re better than french fries-especially if you’re eating out with kids (and husbands) and want them to get used to healthier stuff.

#5 Chips and salsa were yummy. I like that the chips had the perfect amount of salt and didn’t leave grease on my fingers.

So, yes. Believe it or not, I am finding myself recommending another fast food place for a date night. The first one we tried was Extreme Pita. If you haven’t read that review, you can find it here.

We didn’t have coupons, but thank goodness, Taco Time is pretty reasonable.

Our total was $16.82 (under budget!)

Ratings:

Atmosphere (romantic appeal): 3+ No, there were no opera singers serenading us in the background. The lights weren’t dim, and tables were your typical fast food cafeteria style. But, the place was spick-and-span clean and pretty quiet for a Friday night.

Budget friendly: 4. Considering we didn’t have a coupon, not bad.

Food: 3+: I won’t order the same thing next time, but everything else was pretty good. Another bonus? Their amazing touch screen drink machine. Very Jetsons-esque. And, they brew their own black iced tea unsweetened, the way I like it.

Fun and unique: 4. We had fun talking about our organic veggie garden plans and even brought seed catalogs to go through together. We may have gotten weird looks for this at any other place, but Taco Time had the right atmosphere.

Memorable: 3. No hens jumped out at us and there weren’t any chopsticks to fiddle with. Still, it was a nice, pleasant evening  Thanks Taco Time. And yes, we’ll be back again.
